Off-Grid Examples
Off-Grid Systems range from a few watts PV (photovoltaic solar
electric) for DC lights and appliances for weekend seasonal cabins
to full-time year-round homes with large true sine wave inverters
(inverters change DC electricity from battery storage to AC
electricity... electricity from the utility grid and most household
appliances is/use true sine wave AC electricity.) Costs range fron a
a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. Energy
equipment might include solar, wind and/or a fossil fuel
generator.
Each application has unique requirements in terms of power
needs, length of wire runs, mounting spaces/terrain, etc. Each site
needs to be evaluated to determine its solar and wind resources. The
following examples are just that... examples, not quotes for your
specific application. Prices are subject to change without
notice.
